A note about Table Registration

We’re very excited about this year’s fest and the tablers who’ve registered so far! In addition to the amount we get from fundraising events, we’re able to pay for space and other rental fees through table registration costs. Because of this we must emphasize the following:

If you are mailing in your payment please so do as soon as possible after you register. The Richmond Zine Fest has to place a cash deposit on our venue and ensuring funds are available helps this process. This means we cannot guarantee your spot until we receive your funds.

Online registration for the Richmond Zine Fest will close October 1st or when tables fill, whichever comes first. If there is still space available after October 1st you may register in person at the fest on a first come first served basis.

The Richmond Zine Fest is coming…

On October 8th at the Gay Community Center of Richmond (1407 Sherwood Avenue) the Zine Fest will be coming to Richmond. For those of you that came out last year we can’t wait to see y’all again, and to those that have never heard of us before: well, this is your chance.

Stay tuned as we update our web page with everything you need to know about this year’s Zine Fest, and provide opportunities for you to get involved as bring affordable self-published material to the RVA!

What’s a Zine?

From Stolen Sharpie Revolution, and pronounced like magazine without the “maga-,” a Zine is an independently created publication containing anything you want it to; personal experiences and stories, political ideologies, music related writing, gardening tips, fiction, travel stories, comics, photography, or anything you like. Zines can be put together by one person or a group of people and they are usually photocopied but can also be printed offset, letter press, or mimeographed.

What’s a Zine Fest?

A Zine fest is an event where zinesters (individual sellers as well as Zine Distro owners) meet up to sell and trade zines, as well as meet other zinesters. However, please note that trading is up to each individual zinester, and distros traditionally do not trade zines.

A Zine fest is not a craft fair, comic book convention, or a book fair. We do not mind if these things are sold by tablers, but we do ask that they devote at least 50% of their stock to zines and other affordable printed matter. Because zines are generally in the range of $1 to $5, you can expect to buy a lot of great reading material for a low price!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support Richmond Zine Fest on Thursday. A special thanks goes to Sprout for hosting the event, our emcee Danny, and everyone who bravely jumped on stage: Dixon, Alan Webb, Mo, Elizabeth Albrecht, Safiya, Liz Canfield, Eric Scott, and Cat. It was an awesome night, and we hope attendees enjoyed it as much as we did!
